Research
My research lies at the intersection of agriculture and climatology—agroclimatology. I focus on advancing our understanding of how crops respond to weather and climate variability, both historically and in the context of a changing climate. By leveraging modern datasets and methods, I revisit foundational agroclimatic concepts to address today’s pressing challenges—such as how crop phenology and yield potential are affected by extreme weather events.
A core aspect of my work involves evaluating the evolving nature of crop conditions over time and projecting how they may shift in the future, not only in the United States but around the world. My research seeks to quantify the risks and resilience of crops to climate extremes by aligning phenological insights with meteorological data. Ultimately, my goal is to bridge the gap between meteorologists, agronomists, and stakeholders, creating a shared language and set of tools to improve agricultural decision-making.
